Platelet rich plasma therapy is an exciting technology to help maximize tissue healing and growth. The concept has been in existence for over 40 years and is used in Orthopedic and Dental applications. The procedure is relatively simple. One vial of blood is taken from patient and put into a specific centrifuge apparatus. This separates plasma, red blood cells, and allows platelets to sit in a specific chamber in the centrifuge collector. Superficial plasma is removed allowing access to a dense rich platelet medium. This fraction is then drawn into a syringe and injected into specific sites.
