Case # 1 Severe Low Back Pain and Prolotherapy
This is a 49 year old lady who presented to my office on 1/24/2002 with severe low back pain. This has been going on, and worsening, since 2000. Patient had been moving furniture at her home and felt extreme pain. Subsequent MRI testing revealed multiple degenerated / herniated discs in the lumbar spine. There was numbness and tingling down her left leg. At times she could barely walk. The patient had been to various physicians for relief, yet nothing had given her significant improvement. She had been given cortisone injections, physical therapy, pain killers and anti-inflammatory medications.
After a history and physical exam, I had discussed the options that I thought would be beneficial to her. Since she was in severe pain, we decided to start Prolotherapy at that first visit. She came in twice a week, and by the third injection was feeling dramatically better. The treatment continued her improvement and the patient was able to return to her normal activities and work over the course of the first month. She has come back to the office to monitor other health concerns intermittently and will occasionally have Prolotherapy done to maintain her strength.
Case # 2 Weight loss, Cholesterol / Triglyceride decline with Low Carb Diet
This is a case of a 56 year old male who presented to my office on 8/14/2004. He had a long history of Hypertension, High Cholesterol, High Triglycerides, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Overweight, Back and Knee Pain for the past few years. He had been unable to lose weight and had tried a variety of diets over the years. He had been on various blood pressure and cholesterol medications. He also had eczema.
After history and physical, blood testing was done. The patient was started on a low carbohydrate diet.
The initial weight was 249 lbs.The patient had his second visit three weeks later (Sept. '04) His weight had declined to 233 lbs.
Total Cholesterol was 299Prolotherapy injections were done to help strengthen knees.
He continued his diet plan, as well as weekly injections. Blood testing done on 10/09/04 was reviewed and revealed:
Cholesterol had declined to 200 !!His knees were doing extremely well, and had returned to his normal activity.
He is obviously extremely happy.
Case # 3 Parkinson's Disease and Glutathione Treatment
This patient came to my office on 7/13/06 with a history of Parkinson's disease. He had fallen while on vacation, and had progressive difficulty with movement. He had significant dysfunction with coordinated activities, including getting up out of chairs. His ability to play golf had diminished dramatically and he had to stop. Tremor was evident, as was significant frustration. The patient was referred to me from a neurologist.
History and physical exam was done, blood testing was recommended.
Because of the nature of the disorder and patients desire to improve, treatment was started with Intravenous Glutathione. This was done twice weekly.
On 7/18/06 a brief visit was done, requested by the patient.Patient described being an 8 out of 10 in feeling and function. He stated that his movement is close to normal.
He continues to improve with this therapy.
